- My guest today is Bill Griggs, the Chapter Chair of SCORE Tulsa. SCORE is a nationwide volunteer organization dedicated to helping individuals intending to start a small business and those already in business. The organization started in 1964 and now has more than 10,000 members and 369 Chapters. SCORE is a resource partner with the US Small Business Administration.
- The Tulsa SCORE Chapter has about thirty active members. Members' background includes holding executive and managerial positions in manufacturing, construction, international sales, pharmacy, oil & gas, aerospace, public relations, and other areas.
WHAT WE DISCUSS
- Bill starts with his roots of growing up on a farm. He learned great life lessons through the time that he served in the Air Force. He tells about the desire he had to become a manager and how this path started with his move to IBM. After 42 years with IBM, he has decided to spend his retirement golfing, being on the board of Tulsa Boys home, and much more. You’ll hear about his role in the Tulsa Chapter of Score and why he enjoys it so much. He also shares the history of the SCORE organization. We discuss the resources they offer, the process for getting mentored, and even how to become a mentor yourself. His goal is that SCORE doesn't remain one of Tulsa’s best-kept secrets.
