AN ALTERNATIVE PLACE TO GATHER

• My guests today are Zoe Evans, Jonathan Wedel, McKinzey Wedel, and Kellie Stone. They are the co-founders of the Alt Room. The Alt Room is a modern event space in Tulsa’s new Alley 51 where people can gather for business, social clubs, special events, or a fun night with friends. Their goal is to be a place for all people to gather, and provide a fresh space for culture to grow in Tulsa. 

WHAT WE DISCUSS

• Zoe, Jonathan, McKinzey, Kellie, and I discuss their backgrounds and influences. They share about their different journeys including Zoe’s transition from a classic corporate job, Jonathan’s law background, McKinzey in commercial real estate, and Kellie’s experience in finance, accounting and non-profit work. We discuss how the idea for the space came together in April of 2021. We also discuss the various ways the space can be used, such as for classes, coworking, parties, meetings, and more. They share how they provide their wall space to local artists to use as a free gallery. Their desire is to promote Tulsa art and Tulsa people.
