- My guest today is Ben Von Drehle. Ben is the owner of The Root Coworking. The Root’s mission is to deliver the highest quality workplace experience through community & culture while providing first-class service to its members.

- Ben and I discuss growing up in Tulsa, the evolution of downtown Tulsa, and his early entrepreneurial endeavors. We discuss his passion and educational background in sports journalism. He tells how his career started in commercial real estate in Denver, working with companies to help find the perfect office space. He began gravitating toward the tech and entrepreneurial scene in Denver, fell in love with the concept of coworking, and knew that smaller markets in his hometown of Tulsa, OK lacked these resources. He tells how The Root was born in October of 2019. You’ll also hear him describe what a coworking space is, how The Root is different, and the evolution of The Root’s name. Finally, he shares some of his favorite books and mindfulness tips.

Ben Von Drehle

Ben Von Drehle is the Co-Founder & CEO of The Root Coworking. After graduating from the University of Mississippi, Ben spent six years in the commercial real estate industry, working with tenants, property owners, and developers in Denver, CO. Ben first learned about coworking after a company named WeWork leased two full floors in the most expensive building in Denver, which happened to be located across the street from Ben’s office. As someone who has an eye for creative office design, and a hatred for low ceilings, fluorescent lighting, and cubicles, Ben immediately fell in love with the concept of coworking, and knew that his hometown of Tulsa lacked quality coworking spaces for a growing population of entrepreneurs and business leaders. Ben’s entrepreneurial drive, real estate expertise, and passion for bringing people together led to the creation of The Root Coworking in October 2019. Today, The Root Coworking has over 25,000 square feet in the East Village of downtown Tulsa, and plan to open more locations in 2022.
